First Strides – Start Training Now

 

Do you  imagine yourself fit and strong, striding comfortably down the road during an easy workout or a 5-K race? This gradual 10 week program will help you comfortably progress from the couch to walking, jogging or running at a pace that’s right for you.
First Strides® meets weekly, offering presentations on topics from what to wear to injury prevention. We then stretch and do a group walk/run. Please come dressed for activity.
Women from ages 12 to 112 are welcome to attend. Bring your daughters, mothers, neighbors, co-workers and friends.
First Strides® is now a participating member of the LVHN/Choice Plus – Culture of Wellness reimbursement program.
 
First Strides workshops are offered in the Spring and Summer/ Fall.

Goal Event: The Spring First Strides goal event will be Hanover Township Women’s 5K- June 3

Cost: $50 (early-bird specials $45).  Fee includes literature and graduation shirt (if earned by attending 7 of 10 sessions). Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable between people or programs.

Making Strides

 

Who: A women’s running group that meets weekly to increase strength and speed through various workouts ranging from sprints to hill repeats. 

What Distance: 4 to 5 miles including a warm-up and cool down.

Prerequisite: 5K run fit. Ages 12 to 112 (Minors need to be accompanied by an adult). 

Cost: There is no cost for this program; however, membership with LVRR is strongly encouraged.

Where: Meet in front of the track at Muhlenberg College, Liberty Street, Allentown November standard time until March daylight savings time. Meet in front of the white barn next to the LVRR Clubhouse in the Lehigh Parkway from March daylight savings time until November standard time.

When: Tuesday evenings from 5:45 to 7PM

Why: To run your fastest time at the W5K event!
