BRADBURY-SULLIVAN LGBT COMMUNITY CENTER

Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center has been the recipient of a Women’s 5K Grant since 2014.  In a discussion with Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan he expressed great appreciation to the W5K for helping to fund “Promoting Mammograms for Lesbian and Bi-Sexual Women in the Lehigh Valley”.

Mr. Shanker addressed the fact that it is more important than ever to catch up with annual screenings because so many were postponed during the pandemic. The education process of the grant engaged approximately 450 community members through direct outreach at libraries, colleges, businesses and community events.

Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center’s health program manager has partnered with four local public libraries to implement awareness campaigns informing patrons about cervical and breast cancer risks as well as the importance of early detection of these cancers.

The Women’s 5K Classic applauds Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center for stressing the importance of cancer screenings and education of their community on how and where to get these screenings.  We also enjoy the participation of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT in the Women’s 5K Classic.  They have had winning times in the Team Walking Division many years.
