For Margee Forgosh, designing a T-shirt for the Women’s 5K Classic is much more than a creative project—it’s personal.
A freelance graphic designer who has called the Lehigh Valley home for the past 40 years, Margee’s connection to the Classic began in 1999, when she was selected to design her first event T-shirt. Since then, she has had the privilege of creating four additional designs, including this year’s shirt.
Over the years, Margee has been continually inspired by the women who founded the Women’s 5K Classic and by those who continue to bring it to life each year.
“I’m continually in awe of the tremendous organization, dedication, and effort it takes to create, sustain, and grow an annual event so successfully. The energy, passion, and positivity of the women involved inspire me to do more and to get involved.”
The mission also carries profound personal meaning for Margee. Both of her grandmothers, three of her aunts, and her sister have faced breast cancer, at different stages of their lives and with varying outcomes. Through their experiences, she has witnessed the impact of breast cancer not only on those diagnosed, but also on the families and loved ones who walk beside them.
For Margee, using her creativity to help raise awareness and funds for those affected by breast cancer is a meaningful way to contribute to a cause that is truly near and dear to her heart.
When she isn’t designing, Margee enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, water sports, and her newest creative pursuit—pottery. She also has a passion for ancient history and art and loves learning about the people and cultures who came before us, something she says helps keep today’s trials and tribulations in perspective. Margee is married to Ari Forgosh, the love of her life, who has practiced dentistry in the Lehigh Valley community for many years. Their son, Alex, is an engineer living and working in Los Angeles.
